“Good morning class!
“Goooood moooooorniiiiiing Miss Radius!”
“How are you today?”
“Fiiiiiiine thaaaaaank yooooouuuu and hoooooow aaaare yooooou?”
“I’m fine too. Did you do your math homework?”
“Yeeeeesnoooooo! Miss Radius!”
“Let me have your books.”
………………..Mwalimu wa Math! I’m coming for you!
I hope you have mentally travelled to your elementary school days and reminisced a little about ‘Mwalimu wa Math’. There was never a day that was free from math homework. Sometimes it was enjoyable and other times it was pure torture. Other times, it remained a mystery!
I have taken you back to your schooldays on purpose. I want to superimpose!
In this classroom of life, we encounter variations of ‘Mwalimu wa Math’ and the various life lessons related to the same. Do we agree that the persistence of math lessons had a purpose? And herein lies the acronym;
Manifest
And
Trust
Him
The math lessons were filled with formulas to make work easier including rhythmic chanting and repeated utterances that served to make the lesson easier. Let me focus on the word ‘repeated’. I cannot count the number of times we repeated the multiplication tables to the point where responses became automatic.
Life lessons are filled with similar formulas to make life easier. And as the quote that follows mentions, the math teacher really showed up…daily!
“The formula for success is 2% talent, 8% luck, and 90% of showing up every day.”
― Jeffrey Fry
There are life lessons that are repeated so often and concurrently that it feels like you are stuck in a loop. And just like math lessons, the teacher/life changes the topic when you have learnt the lesson of the day. I believe that the lesson is repeated for as long as the student needs to learn it.
Let me ask you…Do you actively participate in learning life lessons or you are stuck glaring at the ‘math’ teacher from a corner?
Today’s article is short because Math lessons should be short…according to me!
I cannot repeat the word MANIFEST enough. Manifest….And Trust Him.
Do your math!
Beautiful article. I love the question, do I actively participate in learning life lessons?
